CHISHOLM PARK GOLF COURSE.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Saving read the letter signed “ Western Gales ” in the issue of April 17. with interest, I, as a golfer, would also -like to know w’hen the links are likely to be opened. Many golfers residing in Anderson’s Bay, St, ■ Kilda, Musselburgh, and Tajnui are greatly disappointed over the lengthy delay. It would be to the advantage of . the authority who supervised the cutting of the greens if golfers were permitted to play on the greeds, as it would consolidate them now that the grass is in fairly good condition. Might I suggest that the council convene a meeting of golfers with the view of getting the fairways, etc., completed before the winter sets in?—l am, etc., Southerly Busier. April 19. K

TO ■ THE EDITOR. , Sir, —I wish to add my protest against the miserable delay in completing this necessary asset to our city. There are two'main reasons wby this job should be hurried on, the first being that for years past all this land could not be used for the purpose for which it was intended—that is, a-muni-cipal golf links. Secondly, scores of young men have been deprived of learning one of the most healthy and Interesting games in existence. They have had to turn their attention to other amusements, perhaps less beneficial to their health. Many are temperamentally unsuited for ' football or cricket, but the Royal game of golf has, a fascination for all who care to give it a trial. The clubs in existence, apart from the expense of joining them, are already full to overflowing, and « our council acts wisely it will not only hurry on the completion of this golf course, but will lobk around in© -city s outskirts and mark down other courses which will be necessary m the near future. The Pine Hill district, has some suitable gfohnd, and now is the time to arrange for leases before the land . speculators take charge.—l anv e^c ” Balmy Breezes. April 19.
