HARRIERS

ST. KILDA. The St. Kilda Club held an enjoyable run from the George Street School, a fast pace being maintained up Duke street to Ross Creek. Here soine good harrier countiy was traversed to Pine Hill School, whore good promise was shown by A. Cochrane, A. Brown, and G. Ross. The trail then proceeded down hill to the Gardens. Alex. Smith, N. Crimp, and Alex. Fraser headed the pack home. CIVIL SERVICE. • The Civil Service club held its weekly run from the Anderson’s Bay School. Over 45 runners turned out. The racing pack, under Captain S. Asher, followed a trail up Highcliff road, then branching off round the hills above Tomahawk and Smaill’s Beach to tho 4YA station. A long and steady run home was held from there, in which M'Millan, Greaney, and Wilkinson showed-fine form. The medium pack, under the whistle of Deputy-captain Coutts, ran across country to the monument and down the hill to Smaill’s Beach. A run home was held from there, in which Coutts was first, Ferguson second, and E. Asher third. The Cojts, _ under the leadership of Deputy-captain MKersey, ran along past Anderson’s Bay Cemetery to 'Tomahawk Beach. A cross-country run to the monument followed and thence down Highcliff road to the school, No run home was held 1 . ANGLICAN. Anglican held the second run of the season from the St. Clair. Baths with a fair attendance of members. Tho pack, under the whistle of Club Captain Burridge, followed the Cliffs road, thence on to the Golf Links, where Deputy-captain Davie took charge of the fast pack. Both packs then circled the links to the Blackhead road. A fast pace was set towards Blackhead, the packs then branching across paddocks to the cliffs, which were followed to Cargill’s Castle. A direct line was then taken back to the baths. No run home was held. Prominent throughout were Maydon, Gilchrist, Crawford, and Bartlett. HANOVER BAPTIST. The run commenced from the Sunshine Mission at Anderson’s Bay, thence to Chisholm Park, cutting over the sandhills to Lawyers Head,_ over to Smaill’s Beach, returning via Tomahawk road. The run home commenced from the tram terminus. Before the run the club captain welcomed two new members, J. Terry and J. Curry. CAVERSHAM. The club held the weekly run from St Clair Baths, when there was an excellent attendance of 45 runners present. Three packs were formed, the fast under Captain Cummings, the slow under Deputy-captain Colston, and tho junior pack under Deputycaptain Hebbard. . The -trail led up the road to Cargill’s Castle, when a turn was made to the right, tho trail coming out at the St. Clair golf house. From nere the packs ran across country down to Green Island, then crossed the railway line and up to the Southern Reservoir. On reaching the reservoir the pack ran down to the Kaikorai Valley road, then back to Look-out Point. From there the packs ran along Riselaw road to Corstorphine. From the paddocks just above the Sidey- residence the fast pack had an unofficial run home, Austin being first, followed by George, then Sadler. The result of the junior pack’s run home is:—R. Emmerson 1, W. Fox 2. Slow pack: R. Colston 1, J. Simpson. 2, \V. Young f 3. Tomorrow the hiking section will leave from the Caversham terminus at 9.30 a.m. for a training walk. DUNEDIN. The Dunedin Harriers ran from Mrs Lorimer’s residence, 26 School street, Roslyn. A good muster, under the whistle of Captain Sturgeon and Deputy Hill, left School street, thence by road to , paddocks and across Bishopscourt and the Golf Links to Ross Creek Reservoir. Then the_trail led round tlie track, at th.© back of the Reservoir, and finally emerged on the road overlooking the Leith From there the road was followed round the back and across the foot of Flagstaff until the power station was reached. The trail then led along Helensborough road, and down the Zig-zag on to Fraser’s road. There two packs were formed. The slow pack, under the whistle of Deputy Hill, set off from the Kaikorai Baths, and had a run home from Greenock street. L. Hill. R. Cameron, and M’Farland figured prominently in the fast run home. • ■■ The fast pack, under Captain bturcreon, held a run home from the Baths, m which Lorimer, M’Laren, and Mouat took premier honours. The club members were entertained to tea at the residence of Mrs Lorimer, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. LEITH. The pack left the St. Clair Baths under Captain J. G. Thomson and Deputy-captains B. A. Timms and D. N Scott. The trail led round the road to the quarry where a ' steep ascent was made - until ' Cargill s Castle was reached. The track around the Cliffs was followed for two miles. After crossing some good harrier country the Green Island beach road was followed for a distance, when some more paddocks were crossed, the pack finally emerging on Ravenswood road. The descent was made by way of Bedford street. There was a short run home, resulting in a win for R. Dalton, with S. Avent second, and G. Markham third. UNIVERSITY AND MORNINGTON. The second run of the harrier season was a combined one between University and Morningtou Harriers. It brought a very fair attendance from both clubs. Under the whistles of Captains A. Stuart (U.) and W. W. Taylor (M.), ’ the packs proceeded up Signal Hill road, branching off at the tram terminus and across country to the new scenic road. Here the clubs split up into three packs. The fast pack, under Captain A. Stuart (U.), the medium pack under Captain W. W. Taylor (M.), and the slow pack under Deputy-captain G. Woods (U.). The fast pack proceeded up over Signal Hill almost to Brown House, and thence down the Main North road at a medium pace to the North-east Valley School, where a fast home run was held. E. Crooke (M.) 1, R- Roxburgh (M.) 2, and A. Stuart (U.) 3, C. Moore (M.) also being well up. The medium pack and the slow pack took similar trails, eventually striking tho North road halfway up. The medium pack held a short run home. Sotting (U.) 1, Anderson (U.) 2, and Hanley (M.) 3; while in the slow pack T. Moller (M.) and L. Breeze (U.) .were prominent:-. .
