MILK PRODUCERS DEMAND COUNCIL'S AWARD UNSATISFACTORY [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, April 9. Counsel for constitutional procedure prevailed in the face of advocacy for direct action at a stormy meeting of 150 producers when the decision of the Milk Council to increase the price of milk at the farm gate from 9]d to lid was received. To cover tire costs of production the producers sought a payment of Is a gallon during the winter months. After about 20 producers had retired from the meeting a motion stating that no direct action should he taken until such time as all constitutional means had been exhausted was adopted. It was decided to express the opinion that the producers were absolutely dissatisfied with the price that was fixed, and that every endeavour should ho made to have the price brought up to the figure submitted by the producers to the council. [lnquiries indicate that the wholesale price of milk in Dunedin, which is at present 9d per gallon, is unlikely to be raised immediately, although it may be increased to lOd later in the winter, should circumstances warrant this step.
