MILK SUPPLY
QUESTION OF MUNICIPAL CONTROL WELLINGTON MANAGER TO REPORT The General Committee of the City Council reports that, in terms of instruction from the council, it has given, further consideration to the question of establishing municipal control of the city’s milk supply. At the outset it would appear that the matter_ calls for an expert report on the conditions especially applicable to the city, and the committee recommends that, as a preliminary step, authority be given to approach the Wellington City Council with a view to obtaining the permission of that body for the general manager of the Wellington municipal milk department, Mr Herron, to furnish a report on the system of control and distribution of milk best suited to the requirements of this city, such report to also contain estimates of the cost of establishing and operating any scheme which may be recommended. Mr Herron is regarded as an expert of wide experience on this subject, and in 1927 he was sent by his council on a visit of investigation to the United States of America, Canada, and Great Britain.
