LAST DAY'S RACING
The four races held at the Hundred Thousand Club’s carnival last Saturday concluded the track season, and it was plasing to see four different riders gaining first places. The Ralston brothers each won an event in the afternoon, while W. Sivertsen and A. Fletcher wpn the races in tho evening. A point of interest is that Jk M'Connell secured three seconds, showing very consistent form, while K. Denton was third in each of the three races. Many riders have been good over a period, but few have such consistency as this to their credit. With the excellent prizes that were being offered in the week’s racing, it is pleasing to see that all riders had a hand in collecting them, which shows that the handioapper did his job well* There are few-, handicappers with the judgment of Mr A. Ockwell, who is the Otago Centre’s official. For many years he has achieved considerable success in that position. He is a past president of the Dunedin Club, and although not as active in the sport as previously, many riders and supporters are pleased to see that he still takes an interest in the racing.
