SPORTS GROUND RENTALS

INCREASES AT AUCKLAND [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, April 8. All-round increases -in the rentals charged to croquet and bowling clubs, and also in the charges for football grounds and cricket pitches, were approved by the Ctiy CounciT to-night.-The new scale will be adopted as from April 15, and in the case of rentals for the use of reserves by croquet, bowling, and lawn tennis clubs the new charges will operate from the date of expiry of the present tenancies. The superintendent of parks stated that the charges for hiring football grounds and cricket pitches were reduced some years ago on account of the depression. Increased wages aqd shorter hours bad added to the cost of maintenance of all types of sporta grounds.
