HOSPITAL NURSES.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —It is quite within the knowledge of the general public that nurses’ hours are anything but satisfactory, and one does not require to delve very far into the matter to find the reason of so many leaving the profession' every month. The latest imposition is that the morning and afternoon tea period has been reduced to five minutes. What a generous move to those who are working from 12 to 14 hours daily! Is it any • wonder that so many get out, or go under? Surely the board members are not aware of these conditions; if so, it certainly is time that a little more humanity was introduced to those who are compelled to work under these conditions. Some nurses even find it difficult to get one day off in two months. Perhaps the powers that be will take the hint before trouble sets in. —I am, etc., Watchful. March 13.
