SOUTH DUNEDIN ASSOCIATION A largely-attended meeting of the South Dunedin Unemployed Association was held in the Labour Hall, Glasgow street, on Wednesday evening, with the president (Mr Lawless) in the chair. . Correspondence from the town clerk (Mr G. A. Lewin), the Mayor’s Belief Organisation, and Otago A. and P. Society was received. The Vigilance Committee’s report showed that three cases of distress had been assisted since the last meeting. A report of the delegates appointed to meet the local M.P.s was submitted and received, the delegates (Messrs Lawless. Brown, and Petrie) being thanked. The secretary (Mr G. S. Brown) submitted _a_ report covering the fortnight’s activities. A special grant for expenses was made to the Concert Committee in respect to the forthcoming function. Final arrangements were made for the deputation appointed to wait on the Prime Minister on his visit to Dunedin, and Mr A. Lind was added to the deputation. Several complaints were received from members concerning the Placement Office and other matters, and it_ was deeded to embody these complaints with other matter to _ be brought to the notice of the Prime Minister. The winner of the free hMlot for a purchasin' l, order to the value of 10s was Mr W. Beisell. A vote of sympathy was accorded a member whoso sou was recently the victim of a distressing motor accident. a took place concerning the administration of the Poppy Day i..n .s, and the secretary was instructed to communicate with the local R.S.A. in the interests of the returned soldiers who were members of the Unemployed Association.
