MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the committee of the Otago A. and P. Society was held in the board room on Thursday afternoon, and was attended oy Messrs J. Hellyer (vice-president, m the chair), D. M'Leod, K. Clark, !'• oArthur. W. S. Thomson. J. Mitchell, J. M. Fraser, B. S. Irwin, S. Bowman, J. Mosely, J Allison, J. B. Blair. J. A. Fowler. R. Gawn, A. Johnson, D. BCraighead,' U. T. Kirk, H. M. Driver, J. Mee, and W. Lee. Before commencing the business ot the meeting the chairman asked members to stand in silence as a mark of respect to the memory of Mr Jamf® Gow and Mr Alexander Thomson, both of whom had passed away since the last meeting. It was decided to place a minute of appreciation on the books ot the valuable services rendered to the society by Mr Gow during a period of over half a century, as an exhibitor, a member and committeeman, and a president. The Finance Committee recommended payment of accounts amounting ■ to £1*961 3s 6d, £l,lOO of this being, accounted for by the transfer of this amount to the reduction of the mortgage on the Crawford street buildings. The Grounds and Buildings Committee reported that tenders had been called for drainage work at Tahuna Park, and the lowest accepted. The leakage of water on the front wall of Crawford street had been attended' to, and repairs had been carried out to the ramp to Vogel street. The Executive Committee had decided not to lease the Agricultural Hall as a garage, but to review rentals for the 1937-38 wool season. The Winter Show dates were left for the president and secretary to finalise, the dates mentioned being June 8,9, 10, 11, and 12. September 23 was suggested as the date for the annual horse parade, but this was left for consideration by the Draught Horse Committee. The sub-committees in charge of the different sections for the Winter Show revised classes in the schedule and reported alterations and additions. The Secretary reported that the dairy schedule was in the hands of the printer and would bo distributed early next week. Donations in this section were received with appreciation from the New Zealand Co-operative Rennet Company (£2O), Messrs J. B. M'Ewnn and Co. (£2O), and the South Island Dairy Association (£8 8s). The Horticultural Society was granted the use of the society’s staging material for its show, and, as the dates of the A. and P. Society’s show were not yet certain, the letter from the Fanciers’ Club asking for the use of the Brydonc Hall was left to the Executive Committee.
