LABEL BORDER PLANTS

More names of plants are lost through failure to label them .before winter sets in than through any other cause. _ When labelling border plants, the chief difficulty is to counteract the obliterating effects of winter weather. Many excellent types of labels are available and are suitable for special purposes.

Wooden labels are inexpensive and easily replaced, and if painted Avith good Avhite lead paint and the names printed on Avhile the paint is Avet, they Avill last 12 months and will be inconspicuous during summer. If you have not already attended to this matter, go over your borders and label all plants that need it. Once the growth is cut doAvn it is impossible to recognise some plants, and if they have to be lifted later, hopeless confusion may result.
