LADIES’ BOWLING
ANNUAL TOURNAMENT SINGLES TO MRS STEWART The singles competition of the Otago Ladies’ Bowling Association’s annual tournament was concluded yesterday on the Logan Park No. 1 green, Mrs Stewart, of the Dunedin Club, being the winner. There was some good play, despite the tricky wind. Following are yesterday afternoon’s results:— SECOND ROUND. .Mrs Stewart 22, Mrs M‘Connell 10. Mrs Stubbs 20, Mrs Gregory 4. Mrs Faulks 17, Mrs Grieve 14. Mrs Seymour 24, Mrs Gardiner 9, • SEMI-FINALS. Mrs Stewart 20, Mrs Stubbs 16. Mrs Seymour 20, Mrs Faulks 9. Both games were very evenly contested, and the result was in doubt to the final head. Mrs Paulks provided stern opposition, and with_ three required' for a tie, a four to win, her last shot gave her opponent the shot and game. PINAL. . . Mrs Stewart (Dunedin) 18, Mrs Seymour (Caversham) 9. Half the heads had been completed when Mrs Stewart, a previous winner of the singles, was leading 8-6. Mrs Seymour was unfortunate, however, for on two occasions when lying shot she presented Mrs Stewart with what for all practical purposes might be counted as two points. From the eleventh head Mrs Stewart steadily drew away, and allowed Mrs Seymour only three points, while she gained nine. The game was concluded on the nineteenth head with the scores 18 to, 9 in Mrs Stewart’s favour. The winner is to be congratulated on her steady play right the singles tournament under playing conditions which were all against good bowling.
