THE OTAGO CRICKET REPRESENTATIVES.
TO THE EDITOK.
Sir, —The selectors cannot expect the public to take much interest in the Otago-Canterbury match, seeing that they have chosen practically the_ same side that was defeated so easily by Auckland. The only alteration is that Nimmo replaces Mai Gregor. In my opinion we have now too many bowlers in the team and not enough reliable batsmen. Dunning should give way to Cavanagh or Cox, if we must have four Carisbrook men in the team. Another surprise is the retention of_ Chettleburgh, who, with the exception of a good score last Saturday, has been showing very disappointing form. There are other promising young players who have been showing more consistent form, and should liave been given a trial. Would it not be_ possible to have a sole selector appointed who does not _ belong to either the Grange or Carisbrook Clubs? If so, I am sure it would make for the betterment of cricket generally.—l am, etc., February 19. Disappointed.
