BEWARE OF SANTA CLAUS!

The Rumanian police had to forbid the appearance of Santa Claus in the streets of Bucharest last Christmas. Every Christmas season the large •tores organise picturesque Santa Claus parades on the main thoroughfares of the capital. It was found, however, that, apart from the serious traffic disturbances caused by the white-bearded, red-hooded old gentlemen, many dangerous pickpockets disguised themselves as Santa Claus, and, instead of generously emptying their bags, they dumped in them the objects stolen from the onlookers. Tens of thousands of Bucharest children asked what had become of Father Christmas last year, but many parents were grateful to the police for protecting their pockets from his nimble fingers.
