CROSSING COLLISION
TWO MEN INJURED ONE IN SERIOUS CONDITION Further particulars of the collision which occurred yesterday afternoon between a line of trucks and a motor lorry at a crossing on the railway line running along the foreshore and fronting Anderson’s Bay road are available. Shortly before 3 o’clock the lorry, which was driven by George Mason, married, 23 years of age, residing at Fairfield, commenced to cross the line at the rear of the trucks, which were being shunted. At the time the lorry reached the line the trucks were stationary, but they moved backwards when the other vehicle was halfway across and crashed into the lorry, which was thrown on its side, the body and cab being completely splintered. The driver and a passenger, John Forrester, a single man, (residing at 55 Fitzroy street, Caversham, were caught under the wreckage. Both men were admitted to the Public Hospital, Forrester suffering from internal injuries, concussion, and shock, and Mason from shock and abrasions to the face and hands. Forrester, whose name was placed on the seriously ill list, had not shown any improvement. in condition when inquiries were made this morning, but Mason was reported to be a little better.
