—Vice-regal.— It is announced that Lady Galway, who is now making very satisfactory , progress from her recent accident, will leave Auckland for England by the Niagara on Tuesday, March 23. Her Excellency expects to be absent from, the Dominion for about six months, and during her stay in England will be present at the Coronation celebrations in May. Mr James Fletcher arrived yesterday afternoon from the north. Mr C. L. Grange, Commissioner at Thames, who has been visiting Dunedin, left by the express to-day on his return north. Dr D. G. M'Millan, M.P.. returned from the north this afternoon. Mr A. L. M. Williss, who is at present postmaster at Rotorua, has been, appointed deputy-postmaster at Dunedin. and will arrive here on February 8. Dr Roland Fulton returned to town to-day. A visitor to _ New Zealand by the Awatea to-day is the Hon. J. R. Lee, a member of the New South Wales Parliament.—Press Association. Mr H. H. Stirling returned by the Awatea from a six months’ stay in Australia. He said the depression seems to be a thing of the past in Australia, and every class of commercial undertaking is expanding.—Press Association. Reference was made at last night’s meeting of the Hospital Board to the recent death of the brother of a member, Mr H. S. Sheat, and a motion of sympathy with the relatives was carried. Mr R. F. Malfroy, until recently manager of the Pitt street branch of the Bank of New South_Wales, Sydney, has been appointed assistant inspector for New Zealand. He is at present in Wellington. Mr L. Glover, president of the New Zealand Alliance of Labour, who was nominated to represent the workers at the Geneva Labour Conference, has decided to withdraw his nomination in view of the movement for a reorganisation of the industrial forces of the Dominion. Mr A. B. Johnston, whose death occurred last evening, was a grandson of Captain Cargill, and a prominent and enthusiastic member of the Early Settlers’ Association. Until a few years ago, when he retired, he was secretary of the Westport Coal Company, and had been in its employ for over 40 years. The deceased, whose courteous and kindly character won him many friends, was 82 years of age. He leaves three sons. At last night’s meeting of the Hospital Board reference was made to the death of the father of the chairman. (Mr J. W. Dove), and members offered their sincere sympathy to Mr Dove. Latest arrivals at the Grand Hotel are Senator and Mrs A. J. M'Lachlan. (Canberra). Mr and Mrs H. P. M‘Lachlan (Glenelg, South Australia), Mr J.' L. Ferguson (Canberra), Mr C. L.
