MANORBURN DROWNING FATALITY.

Frederick James Middlemiss, aged 25 years, who was drowned while swimming in the Lower Manorbum dam on Sunday, was employed by Messrs Carline Bros, at Galloway. He was first missed on Monday morning, when he did not return home at milking time. Mr Carline carried out a search for the missing man’s clothes around the large dam, hut without result. About 5 o’clock he learned that the young man had been seen swimming in the lower dam, and, with the assistance of Constable Sorrell and others, instituted dragging operations. These were continued until 7.45, when the body was recovered in a deep pool. Deceased’s parents live at Gore. / WOMAN FRACTURES THIGH, When she slipped and fell on the asphalt outside her home at 28 Gladstone road last night, Mrs J. Robertson (63), a widow, fractured her : right thigh. She was admitted to the Ho*, pital at 11 o’clock. . . . BODY FOUND IN HARBOUR; The body of Edward M'Dermott (33)',; a ship’s fireman, who lived at Wellington, was' recovered from the harbour early this'morning.
