(Received December 19, at 1.30 a.m.) After a quinquennium’s break due to slavery and inhumanity in the territory Britain yesterday resumed diplomatic relations with Liberia, where the new president, Mr Barclay, has effected a cleaning up. American circles associate this with rumours that Germany intended invading the republic.
