GROSSLY EXAGGERATED

SHORTAGE OF FARM LABOUR [Special to the ‘ Star.’] WELLINGTON, December 18. “ I am not surprised at the informal tion, for I was perfectly convinced that the shortage of farm labour was grossly; exaggerated,” stated the Hon. H. T.Armstrong (Minister of Labour), commenting on a report that the fanners of the Cambridge district are not requiring men from the special camp established at Morrinsville. “ We provided the camp,” added the Minister. “There are 36 men in it* and hundreds are ready to go; but their services are not being utilised, though, we are prepared to transport the men to farms. There is a little more difficulty over milkers, as these workers are leaving for harvesting. Dairy farmers want experienced milkers, though they should try training the men available.”
