CARPENTERS 5 AWARD
HOURS AND WAGES FIXED [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, December 18. The carpenters’ award issued by the Arbitration Court to-day provides for a 40-hour week, with a wage of 2s did an hour for journeymen. The same hours were fixed l for country work, but the overtime rate was fixed at an additional penny an hour. Ordinary overtime rates are time and a-half for the first four hours and double thereafter. A 44-hour, five and a-half day week is fixed for carpenters employed by harbour boards, maintenance carpenters employed by freezing companies, and carpenters employed by hospital boards.
