(Received December 17, at 1.30 p.m.) The ‘ Daily Telegraph’s ’ city editor says the fiduciary operations in connection with the Bank of England wore favourably received in the city as revealing determination to maintain the cheapness of money, avoid deflation, and demonstrate the gold strength of the London authorities. Foreign opinion is favourably impressed, and the market generally strengthened.
