MISSIONARY UNION CONFERENCE

ASHBURTON, October 14. Sixty delegates representing all parts of the Dominion are attending the New Zealand Methodist Women’s Missionary Union conference, whieh was opened this morning after a welcome social last evening, when the sister churches and organisations tendered greetings. The president, Mrs W. H. Duke, of Dunecfm presided. The report stated that the year had been one of strain owing to the shortage of finance. The income totalled £2,773, an increase of £l9O. Fifty affiliated auxiliaries registered an increase of three, with a membership of 2.960, an Increase of 117. The reports of the work overseas and among the Maoris were encouraging. An invitation to hold the 1937 conference in Auckland was accepted. The following executive w as nominated; — President, Miss E. Rushworth; secretary, Miss E. M. Pearce; treasurer, Miss E. Mather.
