SPIRITUALIST CHURCH

The Spiritualist Church service, held in the Radiant Hall, St. Andrew street, again drew a large attendance last evening, when Mr Reuben A. Webb delivered another trance addresS, the subject on this occasion being ‘ Radiant Life.’ The Bible reading by the chairman (Mr R. N. Ridd) was from the first chapter of St James, and the period of silence was occupied with meditation on the wonderful power of the love of God.

The spirit control wlio officiated through Mr Webb last night announced himself as one who, during his earth life, had occupied a deformed and unbeautiful body, but had been provided with a bright and witty mentality wherewith he bad been able to bring some happiness and joy into the lives of his fellows. Proceeding _ with his subject for the evening, this control said that God had given to mankind a three-fold manifestation—in body, mind, and spirit, and through this manifestation came to them the life radiant. Jesus had exhibited the life radiant to an intense degree, and nowhere, in Scriptural history, was there any mention of His ever having stultified or abused any portion of the threefold manifestation; He had never taught that any portion of It should be regarded as vile, ugly, or unnecessary. And it was indeed true that body, mind, and spirit—or body, soul, and spirit—could be Sipoken of with equal praise. The Divine was in each manifestation, and in the case of the body it gave beauty, grace, virility, and power. The glow of a healthy skin, the gloss of a dear eye, the fine texture of healthy hair, the natural red of fullblooded lips, all were manifestations of bodily health, but the full radiance of that condition could as yet be seen only dairvoyantly by those on the earth plane, for the healthy body not only radiated in the manner described, but created auric conditions which were even more beautiful to behold. The body, as the temple of the living spirit, should therefore bo looked well after. Next there was the mind, or the intelligence, which was capable of demonstrating the life radiant very intensely, not only by the search for knowledge and desire for progress, but especially by the giving of intelligent service to humanity. The ability, too. to bring the smile to the face of one’s fellows; to create laughter and make life happier, even that was service of a high order provided the wit or humour expressed was without sting. The aura of > the wise and good could be brightened and tinged with golden scintillating light by the use of this capacity for giving pleasure and amusement. Finally there was the manifestation of spirit. Without the spirit every cel! of the body would disentegrate; the spirit was the beginning, the middle and the end of the word of God, and the radiance from it was truly magnificent. Artists had endeavoured to portray it by painting haloes around the heads of saints, the head of the Master Jesus; blit this radiance was not only brilliant in colour, but it was so farreaching as to permeate to the ends of the earth. Indeed, the radial emanation from Jesus is felt upon the earth plane, for it was not necessary for the Treat spiritual ones to come down into the market place.
