OBITUARY

M| J. ELViDGE Another link with the early days of Dunedin has been severed by the death of Mr J. Elvidge, who passed away earlyon Saturday morning. The deceased came to- Dunedin from Forfarshire »n the seventies, and shortly after his arrival he became associated with Messrs M'Kinlay and Son, boot manufacturers. He later entered into partnership with Mr Neill, and conducted a boot factory under the title of Messrs Neill and Elvidge in Stafford street. The deceased retired from business when the partnership was dissolved some years ago. An enthusiastic cricketer, Mr Elvidge for many years played with the old Oceanic Club, in Mornington. He also took a keen interest in bowls, and after leaving St. Kilda, became as member of the Kaituna Club. A keen interest was also taken by him in football and most other sports. His cheery and kindly disposition endeared him to a wide circle of friends. Mr Elvidge is survived by three sons and two daughters—Mr John Elvidge, Mr Hugh Elvidge, and Miss Dorothy Elvidge (Dunedin), Mr George Elvidge (Qamaru), and Mrs G. F. Ingles (Auckland). MR H. B.
