ACCIDENTS AMD DEATHS
FATAL FALL FROM WINDOW, The body of David Reid M'Leod,aged 50, was found in a yard in Manners street, Wellington.. There wai an open bathroom window above from which he had apparently fallen. He was a member of the corps of Commissionaires and held several -war medals, having served with the Canterbury Regiment on Galilipoli and afterwards in France. He was invalided to England in 1916. He thereafter was a stretcher-bearer in an English hospital. Recently he. was awarded the war veterans’ allowance. An. inquest will he held. LORRY AND TRAIN COLLIDE. .A collision between & lorry and a! train going to Tuatapere occurred at the West Plains crossing yesterday afternoon. The driver or the lorry. John Gordon,, of Tuatapere, suffered, head injuries, and after _ being treated in the Southland Hospital proceeded to his home. Two other occupants of the lorry escaped injury, but the vehida was badly damaged. The engine wa» also damaged,'' and had to be brought back to Invercargill and replaced by another one. SCALDED BY BOILING FAt. When a pot of boiling fat was accfc dentally spilt over him, Donald Cutriss, aged two years, living with his parent* at 39 Bay View road, was admitted to the Dunedin Hospital at 6.10 p.m. yesterday suffering from burns to to# head and face. LEG FRACTURED. Annie Anderson, aged. 46 years, i* siding at '448 Cumberland street, suffered a fractured leg,- received when a cupboard which she was moving fell on her. She was admitted to the Hospital at 6.45 last night. BOY’S ARM FRACTURED. Graham Brickell, 12 years of age, living at 5 Napier street, Mornington, tripped and fell while he was running across the tram lines at the Mornington. car shed yesterday and suffered a fractured arm.
