ALLOWANCE OF SICK PAY The Finance Committee of the City Council reports that, with a view to laying down a definite policy in the matter of allowance to employees for sick pay, it recommends that in future all corporation employees who may be prevented from working on account of sickness be allowed sick pay to the extent of two-thirda of their ordinary pay up to the first two weeks of absence, and that in the case of the sickness extending beyond that period the matter of granting any further. allowance be first reported to the committee for determination. It would he understood that the heads of departments would need to he satisfied as to the bona fides of each case before making any payment of sick pay, and if deemed necessary require the production of a medical certificate. The committee further recommends that, in order to ensure uniformity, all matters pertaining to the granting of sick pay throughout the service be hereafter administered by the Finance Committee.
