' HAIWATHA'

A great deal of interest is being taken in the presentation of “ Hiawatha ” by the Dur. lin Choral Socic. ■ on Tuesday next in the Town Hall. It is some years since the society gave this popular work, and concert-goers will welcome its revival. The first and second parts, comprising the ‘ Wedding of _ Hiawatha ’ and ‘ The Death of Minnehaha ’ and' the final chorus of ‘ The Departure ’ will be rendered by the choir, which will be conducted by Mr Alfred Walmsley. The soloists will he Mrs Henderson. Mr Hinton, of Oamaru. and Mr W. Finnic. Preceding ‘ Hiawatha ’ a quartet will sing Liza Lehmann’s ‘ lit a Persian Garden.’ This quartet, composed of Miss Hetty Poeock, Mrs C. Barnett. Mr Alfred Walmsley, and Mr Iv Bento i, is well known for its artistic work an I well-balanced ensemble. The box plan arrangements are advertised.
