GOLFING FEAT
SCHOOLBOY DEFEATS TOLLEY Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, May 1. The 18-year-old .schoolboy, holder of the boys’ golf championship, John Langley, defeated in the semi-final of the English amateur championship Cyril Tolley, the winner of almost as many, championships as his opponent has years. It was one of the finest championship matches seen. Tolley was 4 down at the fourteenth, but won the next three; but Langley imperturbably putted at the eighteenth, halving the hole. He meets in the final IT. Bentley (Walker Cup), ex-holder of the French and German championships, who in the semi-final defeated C. Stowe, a coal miner, who earlier defeated J. Deforest, son of the millionaire. BENTLEY WINS THE FINAL LONDON, May 2. In the final Bentley beat Langley 5 and 4. They were all square at the eighteenth, after which the older player’s experience and his most accurate putting and amazing bunker shots made him unbeatable. In the Scottish championship final E. Hamilton beat Robert Neill 1 up.
