NEGOTIATIONS FOR SALE COMBINATION OF INTERESTS PreSs Association—By Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, April 30. * The ‘ Sun 5 says: “ Although nothing definite is known in Sydney it is thought that a co'mbination of Sydney, Melbourne, and South Island (New Zealand) business interests is in the 10 remaining Ships of the Canadian Merchant Marine. The ‘ Sun ’ points out that a Sydney man, apparently with strong financial backing, went to London weeks ago with a secret mission, while a Melbourne firm with ambitions to extend is regarded as likely to participate in the negotiations for the purchase of the ships.

The ‘ Sun ’ adds: “ The South Island of New Zealand has long been agitating for a direct service, with Australia and the Canadian market.”

THE VESSELS SOLD LONDON. April 30. A syndicate comprising the Commonwealth and Dominion Line, the New Zealand Shipping Company, and Ellerman and Bucknall, has purchased for £160,000 the remaining vessels of the Canadian Government Merchant Marine. The vessels will he maintained in the Halifax-Anstralia service.
