WEATHER FORECAST
COLD—INTERMITTENT RAIN The following weather forecast was issued at noon by the Meterological Office, Wellington, covering the Southern districts—Dunedin, Port Chalmers, Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill, Riverton, Orepuki, Bluff, Halfmoon Bay:— A deep depression is centred near Chatham Island, and a series of second, aries is crossing the Dominion. An intense anti-cyclone still covers Australia. Forecast: Strong south-westerly winds to gales, veering at times to west, or north-west. Weather cold, squally, and changeable, with intermittent rain; snow on ranges, and hail in places. Seas rough to high. ANOTHER WINTRY DAY. Bitterly cold, rainy, and windy weather persisted overnight and prevailed again to-day. It was extremely wintry, with the unsettled weather coming on a moderate wind from its usual quarter—south-west. Moreover, the barometer was well back at 29in and still falling, while the temperature of •45.8 deg at noon was the coldest for the year to date. Earlier it was 42deg, and the minimum last night, 33deg. Yesterday’s maximum for 24 hours wa» ■s2.3deg, and the rainfall ,09in.
