FIRE IN TIMBER MILL

HEAVY DAMAGE [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, April 29. With flames leaping to a height pf 40ft a spectacular tire broke out in the mill of the Scott Timber Company Ltd., on the corner of Cable and Tory streets, to-night. The tire gutted the mill* went through the machinery, and destroyed and damaged much, of the dressed timber. if it had not been for the prompt action of a passing motorist who drove back and warned the Central Fire Station the fire must have been more serious. As it was the brigade was able to control the flames just as they were starting to make progress. The cause of the tiro could not be discovered to-night, and it is not yet known how much damage was done.
