EVICTION RESISTED

TWO SUCCESSFUL APPEALS [Pjjk United Piiess Association.] WELLINGTON, April 29. The Ileut Restriction Act, 1926, which was extended by the Rent Restriction Continuance Act, 1927, repealed part ono of the War Regulations Amendment Act, 1916, but said that a magistrate had power, when a tenant applied to him, to re-enforce the provisions of part one if he was satisfied that more hardship would be done to the tenant by ejection than would be done to the landlord. Two such applications were successfully raised in eviction cases to-day. One tenant was left undisturbed and the other is to have another house belonging to the landlord made available, the present house being next the landlord’s factory and urgently required.
