MR ROOSEVELT'S CALL TO RELIGIOUS UNITY
In a short speech broadcast froiii his home at Hyde Park, New York, on February 23, President Roosevelt appealed to citizens of all religious creeds to unite in the world-wide fight of belief against unbelief. In the course of his speech, which was included in the celebration of Brotherhood Day arranged by the National Conference of Jews and Christians, Mr Roosevelt said: — ; “ The very state of the world is a summons for us to stand together, for as I see it the chief religious issue has not been our various beliefs. It is between belief and unbelief. It is not your specific faith or mine that is being called into question, but all faith. Religion in wide area's of the earth is being confronted with irreligion; our faiths are being challenged.
