Keenan, the general secretary of the Seamen’s Union, who is blamed for the present unsatisfactory condition of the seamen’s,organisation, following the recent shipping strike. R. Taylor, who visited Sydney in connection with the strike, declared that “ never before had he known the necessity for officials of a union to have escorts to protect them from the anger of hungry and deserted seamen.”
