DANTE'S 'INFERNO' FOB GRAND Gripping entertainment is provided by ' Dante's Inferno,' one of the most startling dramas ever produced on the screen, which opens at the. Grand on Wednesday. The first phase of ' The Divine Comedy,' by Dante Alighieri, has been used as the basis for the film and the immortality of his work is exemplified by the suitability of the subject for the theme of a picture in full accordance witb the exacting tastes of the modern age. Romance and spectacle are combined with the breathtaking adventures of Dante in his journey through the Inferno. It contains some of the most striking scenes, perhaps, in any picture seen in the city, Spencer Tracy, tbe principal figure, is first seen as a stoker. He rapidly rises to wealth and affluence and is"finally depicted as a ruling power in the amusement world.. Unscrupulous in his for money, his career is a succession of betrayals and deceptions. Claire Trevor and Alan Dinehart are also in the large cast.
