SINGLES CONTEST COMPLETED MRS BEVERIDGE THE CHAMPION Of the nine contestants in the postsectional play of the singles competition in the annual tournament of the Otago Ladies’ Bowling Association, five were members of the Cavershain Club, and the final, played yesterday afternoon was between two of them—Mrs Beveridge and Mrs Haub, the former being an easy winner. The Logan Park green was in sur-prisingly-good condition after the previous days’ rain, and the afternoon games were enjoyed by a fair number of spectators. Results : FIRST ROUND. Miss Hutchison (Logan Park) 22, Mrs Warrington (Cavershain) 11. Miss Hutchison was playing in good stylo and at the twelfth head had a lead of 11 points, the balance of the game being evenly fought out. SECOND ROUND. Mrs Haub (Caversham) 23, Miss Hutchison (Logan Park) 6. Mrs Walker (Mornington) 19, Mrs Gregory (Dunedin) 8. Mrs Faigan (Miller’s Flat) 20, Mrs Stubbs (Caversham) 14. Mrs Beveridge (Caversham) 20, Mrs M'Connell (Caversham) 9. There was some very fine bowling in this round, Mrs Walker playing a splendid game against her strong opponent. Mrs Haub overshadowed Miss Hutchison, who did not reproduce the form she showed in the previous game, Mrs Faigan fully deserved her win when she showed some of the play which made her so prominent in last year’s tourney. Mrs Beveridge’s easy win showed her to be a very fine four-bowl player with a fine variety of shots. THIRD ROUND. Mrs Haul) 16, Mrs Walker 15. Mrs Beveridge 23, Mrs Faigan 10. The Haub-Walker game was an even run up to the twelfth head, when the score read 8 .all. Mrs Haub then took charge and ran to 16-9 after 17 heads. Mrs Walker was not to lie denied and scored 6 points on the last four beads and just missed making a tie of the game. FINAL ROUND. Mrs Beveridge and Mrs Haub contested the final, which proved to be an excellent game. Play in the early stages was equal, and after the completion of the fourteenth head the score card road 10-9 in favour of Mrs Beveridge. who added 2 more on the next and Mrs Hanb 1 on the sixteenth. Mrs Beveridge then made a 1,2, and another I on the next three heads, making her 6up and two ends to go. Mrs Mnnb scored a single on the twentieth, leaving Mrs Beveridge the winner, 5 up and a head to play.
