Wade and Harvey mastered O’Reilly and Grimmett, scoring freely off both. Harvey’s glorious innings ended when lie attempted to hit O’Reilly for a 6. He was caught by O’Brien, who leaned backwa; 1 s over the fence and held a great catch. Harvey hit one 6 and 10 4’s, and batted 264 minutes. His invaluable innings, assisted capably by H. Wale, gave Natal the distinction of leading Australia on the first innings. O’Reilly injured his hand when fielding a fast one from Harvey, and left the field to receive attention.
