Not for some considerable time has A picture been received with such an en* tbusiastic: reception as the musical io* mance ‘ Naughty Marietta’which will have a return season at the Maytair this week. The story is, briefly, that of the lovely Princess Marie de Ja Bonfain (Jeanette Macdonald), who exchanges identities with her servant. Marietta, and, armed with the latter a credentials, leaves France as one of 40 “ casquette ” girls bound for the French settlement of Louisiana to find husbands. The ship is captured by pirates, who land with their fair captives in the Everglades, but are routed by a band of Woodsmen under Captain Richard Warrington (Nelson Eddy), who proceeds to court Marietta. The charm of the film lies in the outstanding singing of the two principals, several of whose numbers have become strong favourites with the public. ,
