The quarterly meeting of Enterprise Lodge No. 2 was held last Wednesday, when Arch Druid Bro. L. Symonds was greeted by a large attendance- o£ members and visitors, amongst whom’ were P.D.P. Bro. G. Frampton, ofi Acorn Lodge, Invercargill. The- bards’report disclosed that a large amount of sickness is still prevalent amongst ths members, and sick pay amounting to £23 was passed for payment. An invitation was received from Good Intent Lodge, Mosgiel, to its anniversary; social, the invitation being Otago Lodge also extended an invitation to the Grand Lodge delegates t« attend its next meeting the night before the Grand Lodge session. During the evening the Grand Lodge order, paper was placed before the members* and after some lengthy discussions they delegates received their instructions. The next meeting being old members’! night, the Syllabus Committee reported! that it had arrangments well in train* and by all reports the function should prove to be very successful. Lily of the Valley Lodge met on Wednesday last in the Albany Street Hall. Arch Druid Bro. C. Carolin presided over a good attendance of officers and members. Grand President Bro* H. Hunt favoured the lodge with an? official visit, and was received withi Druidic honours. D.P. Bro. J. Patterson attended in his official capacity* and was welcomed by the Arch Druid and members. An invitation- was received . from Otago Lodge for the Grand Lodge delegates to attend its meeting on Monday, March 9. ' One candidate presented himself and received the obligation. The A.D. bards reported favourably on sick members* and sick pay amounting to £6 16s 8d was passed for payment. The greater portion of the meeting was taken up by the Grand Lodge order paper. A! motion was carried that the representatives be given a free hand on the remits. It was decided to commence at’ 7.30 next lodge night to entertain the Olive Branch Juveniles. • ’ After the usual toasts had been honoured the lodge closed. At the quarterly meeting of Bay; Lodge, No. 18, held in the Masonio Hall, St. Kilda, on Monday night,Arch Druid, Bro. V. W. Couch, was' - greeted by an excellent attendance o£ members. D.P. Bro. A. E. Jelly was given a cordial welcome with musical honours. P.G P. Bro. C. Jacobson, Grand Trustee Bro. A. T. Workman, and P. D. P. Bro. J. Bond also received a welcome to the meeting. Tha. correspondence ■ included an invitation from Good Intent Lodge for its anniversary social on March 11, also an intimation that the Royal Arch Chapter; would pay an official visit to Bay Lodge on March 2. The lodge will visit West Harbour Lodge on March 12, for whichi arrangements for a bus are being made* The sick visitors reported an improvement in the sick brothers, and that? some of them had returned to work. Sick pay, £4, and accounts, £32, were passed for payment. _A _ new member was proposed for initiation as a full benefit member, and a notice of motion, 1 by P.D.B. Bro. J. A. Metcalf that tha Arch Druid Bards be paid for their services was carried. The Grand Lodge order paper was placed before the members, and was dealt with very carefully, several of the remits causing considerable discussion. The delegata bo Grand Lodge session, P.A. Bro. D* A. Young, made it quite easy for tha ' members to follow the various remits, having spent considerable time in making the necessary amendments to rules etc. In most cases the delegate was given a free hand. The toasts were . given and replied to by D.P. Bro. A.E. Jelly, who intimhted that the visit he had made that night would be has last official one as district president on No. 2 District. He wished to congratulate the Bay Lodge on the progress it had made during his term of office. Bro. Jelly stated that it bad: given him considerable pleasure to see the keenness of the young members 'holding office, and he felt sure that Bay Lodge had a bright future before it,Bro, Jelly- asked that the same support given to him be extended to the D.P. elect,- Bro. W. G. Leathley* P.D.P. Bro. J. Bond and P.A. Bro* A. T Workman, of Enterprise Lodge, addressed the meeting and thanked the members for the reception that had been extended to them. P.G.P. Bro. C. Jacobson also thanked the lodge for the welcome .always given to him when visiting the lodge. Supper was served, after which the lodge closed at 11 p.m. The Royal Arch Chapter of Otago, No. 1, held its monthly meeting in ths Harrop Street Hall, R.A.D. Baird pre-siding-over a good attendance. An in« vitation came from Acorn Lodge, Invercargill, per P.G.P. Bro. Ruston, wha had lately visited them, that they would be pleased to receive the chapter officers to confer the international primitive degree on those who wished to receiva it. • It was decided to agree to the request. It was decided to pay an official visit to West Harbour Lodge at tha end of the month, also on Monday, March 2, to visit Bay Lodge, and on the evening prior to the annual meeting of the Grand Lodge, to hold a degree, afterwards proceeding:. to, tha Otago Lodge, it being a representatives! evening. After the usual business had been transacted, the chapter formed itself into a primitive degree lodge. Three past officers were granted them request. The cremony was carried out under the able guidance of Bro. Ruston, who acted as degree master, th* ceremony being faithfully carried out* The meeting closed at a late hour.
