RESCUED FROM FIRE

A woman's screams led to the discovery that, fir? had broken out in a business building in Regent street, London, recently. A police sergeant climbed to the sixth floor, where 10 girls were trapped by flames in a workshop. He could not enter the workshop door because of flames and smoke, so he went on to the roof and broke open the skylight. The policeman saw 10 (error-stricken girls huddled together in a corner. He helped them out, and guided them across (he roof, w/heye they were pulled through the window of an adjacent building to safety. Firemen fought the blaze for more than an hour. The floor on which the girls worked was burned out, and hundreds of pounds’ worth of stock was destroyed.
