BOATING TRAGEDY
INTENSIVE SEARCH FOR BODIES TWO AEROPLANES ASSIST [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, January 28. The tragic loss of five lives in a boating accident .at Weymouth yesterday has cast gloom over the settlement and the surrounding district where the four adults who were drowned were well known and highly respected. Relatives who live in the neighbourhood received many messages of condolence- td-dfiy, • the tragedy being the one topic of conversation, among the groups, assembled near the Weymouth wharf to await the return of parties which had been searching for two bodies not recovered yesterday. Although an intensive search was made by two aeroplanes, by launch, and on foot, no trace was found of the bodies of Mr Martin Day or Allan Turner; aged seven. Two machines from the Auckland Aero-Club cruised over a wide area, and the launch party carried out dragging operations for several ‘ hours without result. A further effort to find the two bodies will be made to-morrow.
