THE CATHOLIC CHURCH

WORK IN AUSTRALIA v

Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright

SYDNEY, January 9

After assuming office as Nuncio Apostolic to Switzerland, Archbishop Barnadini. formerly Apostolic Delegate of Australia, has sent a farewell message to friends. He expresses the conviction that “to these two noble nations of Australia and New Zealand will be reserved a future of even greater religious, moral, and material prosperity so that they may happily accomplish tho mission of civilisation. Perhaps in no country in the Catholic world is the work of the sisters so fruitful and efficient as in the territory committed to the delegation of- Australia and New Zealand. A great part of the wonderful progress of the Catholic Church in these nations must be attributed to the prayers and work of the sisters. It is our : sisters , and brothers who render possible that marvellous system of schools which is a glorious characteristic of the church in Australia.”
