BURNED TO DEATH

An old and respected resident of Ranfurly for many years, Margaret Clancy, aged 62 years, single, was burned to death in her house at o o’clock this morning. The deceased, who resided with her sister in a wooden house, had been a partial invalid for some time, and it is thought that alter her sister had left the house to attend to the poultry outside the deceased must have tried to get out of her bed, and in doing so upset an oil lamp. When the neighbours discovered that .fire had broken out in the house they rushed to the assistance of the sisters, but upon arrival found that the room in which the deceased was last seen was in flames, it was impossible to enter the house, which was soon gutted. The remains of the body were recovered from tho debris.
