. COMPETITION FOR PASSMORE CUP ' WON BY SEACLIFF BOY 'While the attendance was large, about 550 adults and children being present, the number of competitors at the first outdoor meeting of the 4YA Model Aeroplane Club, held at Logan . Park on Saturday afternoon, was disappointing. Many of the children placed their models in an exhibition, which was held in conjunction with the com-, petition for the Passmore Cup, but only four took part in the events for the trophy. In all, there were 12 flights, each model being twice flown from the ground and once hand launched. A point was awarded for every second each model was in the air. The longest single flight was for the duration of 54.5 secs, and the next Slsec. By gaining a total of 117 points, Arthur Rawson. of Seacliff, became the winner of the cup, while Ivor Joseph, of Dunedin,
with 113 points, was the runner-up. The winner’s flight times were: Off the ground, 54.55ec and 32.55ec; hand launched, 30sec. The times of the run-ner-up wore: Off the ground, 51sec and 2osec ; hand launched, 37sec. The timekeepers were Pastor W. D. More (Big Brother Bill) and Mr Jack Hanlon (the “ Aeroman ”), In order to encourage the members of the club to take part in further competitions as they are arranged, weekly meetings are to he held at Logan Park, when regular flights are to be held.
