THE RUSH OVER
TRAIN PASSENGERS RETURN HEAVY WEEK-END LOADINGS With the close of the holiday period, train traffic was again heavy yesterday and to-day, and it is expected that from to-morrow the number of travelling passengers will drop to perhaps a little above the normal. Every seat was occupied on the seaside train, which arrived from the north last evening, while many' passengers were obliged to stand. A total of 890 returned to Dunedin by this train. Two excursion trains left for Invercargill yesterday morning, returning at night, and together they carried 550 passengers. The first train left at 7.20 with 350 on board, and the second 10 minutes later with 200 excursionists, all of whom spent an enjoyable day in the southern city. The through express from Invercargill last night carried 300 passengers, and when it departed from Dunedin for Christchurch there were 350 on board. The night train from Christchurch, which arrived here at 6.53 this morning, brought 250 passengers. This morning 230 left by the 8.33 train for Gore, 150 by the 9 o’clock express for Invercargill, while 600 passengers travelled for the north by the two expresses, 250 being on the 8.45, and 350 on the 11.35.
