OVERCAST-SOME RAIN The following weather forecast was issued at noon by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, covering the southern district —Dunedin, Port Chalmers, Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill, Riverton, Orepuki, Bluff, Halfmoon Bay:— A depression is advancing on to New Zealand, and pressure has risen over Eastern Australia. Forecast: Northwest to northerly winds prevailing, light to moderate mainly, but freshening at times and changing to sourtherhea within 24 hours. Weather, cloudy to overcast, with some rain. Temperatures cooler to-morrow. Seas becoming rather rough to rough.. STRONG WIND; TEMPERATURE DROPS. A strong wind and thick clouds tended to make yesterday’s conditions unpleasant at times. The maximum temperature for the day was 61deg, and the minimum Sl.Sdeg. This morning a indications were Hot promising—again, there was a strong northeast wind blowing, there was a drop in the temperature, and a drizzling rain fell lata in the morning. However, by noon ai Weak sun was shining, and the rain had; ceased. The barometer was steady at) 29.6 in, and the rain did not register..
