BENEFIT SOCIETY
The Dunedin City and D. and S.B. Employees’ Sick Benefit Society held its eighth annual meeting in the Y.M.C.A. Rooms, the president, Mr H. Watson, presiding. The Chairman stated that during the past year sick pay amounting to i»s 2d had been paid out, also £37 10s in death claims. , A discussion took place as to n’hether the society should approach the council for for an annual grant to _its funds, but it was ultimately decided that, as the council was doing excellent work in matters concerning the welfare of its employees, it would be unwise to ask for a donation at this J. M'Narey and W. Dunn (auditors) presented their report, and congratulated the members on the satisfactory state of the funds. _ The Secretary stated that since the society’s inception on May 27, 1927, it had paid out sick pay of £2,078 10s, and in death claims £267 10s, making a total of £2,346. The election of officers resulted:— President, Mr W. Nelson; vice-presi-dent. Mr J. Hartstonge; secretary and treasurer, Mr J. P. Rees; auditors, Messrs J. M'Narey and W. Dunn; trustees, Messrs J. D. Corbett and J. Jardine; stewards—Messrs J. Essen, R. Mansefied. J. Ellis, J. M'Nah; executive—Messrs H. Watson, W. Dunn, T. Hamel. J. Stewart. G. Spence, J. Corbett. J. Jardine, N.. Sabiston, J.- Ellis,. E. 'Mans&eld, J. Halford* JL M'Kah,
