SALVATION ARMY
NEW OTAGO DIVISIONAL COMMANDER Major and Mrs Charles Gray have been appointed divisional commanders of the Salvation Army in Otago and Southland, and will assume command at the end of this month. Major Gray, who was born in New Zealand, has been a Salvation Army officer for 30 years. He was trained in Australia, where he served as an officer in various appointments. On his arrival in New Zealand he was appointed Chancellor of the Central North Division with headquarters at Palmerston North. He has recently been assistant divisional commander of the AVellington Division. Major and Mrs Atherfold, the assistand divisional commanders of Otago, have been appointed to similar positions in Wellington. Major Atherfold was appointed to the Dunedin district at the commencement of last year, and on the sudden death of Brigadier Middlemiss, the divisional commander for Otago and Southland, he took,over the additional responsibilities and has carried on both positions since then. Major Atherfold will give up these duties on January 19.,
