TWO CHAMPION BANDS
The opportunity will be afforded citizens to-morrow afternoon to show that they appreciate the services rendered by our bands whenever called upon during the year to assist any worthy object or organisation. A musical garden party will be held at the residence of Mr S. Solomon, K.C.. Granville Terrace, Belleknowes, in aid of the contest expenses for the bands to travel and compete. The two Dominion champion bands, St. Kilda Municipal and the Dunedin Highland Pipe Band, will be present and render a selected programme of music during the afternoon. Other entertainments will also be provided for, and afternoon tea- will be available on the lawns. There will also be sweets, cakes, soft drinks, and ices in abundance. This beautiful property is laid out with seven acres in lawns and gardens, and the opportunity thus_ afforded through the kind permission of Mr Solomon is of a dual nature—that of pleasure for those who appreciate a lovely garden with music as an accompaniment, and assisting the hands to compete in the effort to retain the honours for Dunedin. The Hon. W. Downi© Stewart will officially open the fete at 2.30. Buses and cars will run from Rattray street from 2 ■o’clock, and private ears may park in Granville Terrace and Harcourt street. Tickets are available from Boy Scouts at the gates.
