The Waverley Boys’ Band played selections during the evening. In opening the fete. Mgr. Morkane apologised for the absence of the bishop, who had sent his good wishes for the success of the function. Mgr. Morkane spoke of the progress that had been made in the Holy ]Name district, particularly in educational wort, and expressed the hope that the strenuous efforts of the promoters would be well rewarded by large attendances and generous support from the community. The first evening’s attendance was very gratifying, and he congratulated the promoters upon this response. The fete will continue this evening, and to-morrow afternoon and evening. An orchestra will play this evening and to-morrow evening, and the boys’ band will play to-morrow afternoon.
