ELECTION CAMPAIGN
LABOUR CANDIDATES Mr F. Jones and Mr P. Neilson, candidates for Dunedin South and Central, addressed a crowded meeting at the Caversham Methodist. Hall last evening, Mr Fordham Drake occupied the chair. Both candidates dealt with the past four years’ administration of the Government, especially in cpnnection with its handling of the unemployment problem. Public works time sheets were quoted from in order te show that as low as twopence per hour was paid on these works. The closing of our training college here was also stressed as an act of injustice to the people of Dunedin and this should be remedied at once. Immigration was referred to, «md it was contended by the speakers that if the Government were again returned, a, policy of immigration would be put into operation. After a number of questions had been asked and answered, a hearty vote of thanks to the speakers and confidence in the Labour Party was carried. Three hearty cheers were lustily given for the Labour Party also. CHALMERS Last evening, at the Laurier Theatre, Port Chalmers, Captain Fraser, the Democrat candidate for Chalmers, addressed the electors and received an attentive hearing. The mayor (Mr T. Scollay) occupied the chair. At the conclusion of his speech the'candidate was- accorded a unanimous vote of thanks. No questions were asked. Mr A. Campbell, Labour candidate, addressed a meeting of electors at PortobeOo last night. .He spoke on the party’s policy on finance, guaranteed prices, Arbitration Court, pensions, and exchange. ' Questions on Social Credit were asked and answered. ELECTION MEETINGS Mr F. Jones, M.P., will address an open-air meeting at the St. Clair band rotunda to-night at 8, and' will address the electors in the Coronation Hal], St. Hilda, on Saturday, November 25, at 8 p.m. . Mr A. Campbell, Labour candidate, will speak at Papanui Settlement at 1 3 p.m. to-morrow and at Otakou at D r m i>. G. M'Millan will address the electors in the Mornington School Hall at 8 p.m. to-night and on Saturday, November 25, in the Roslyn Presbyterian Hall, Highgate at 8 p.m. Mr P. Neilson will address an openair meeting at Lome street, Cargill’s corner at 7.30 to-night, and on Saturday, November 23, in the Mornington Baptist Church Hall, Elgin road, at 8 p.m. Mr A. E. Ansell speaks* at Allanton at 7 o’clock, and at East Taieri at 8.15 tb-night. > Mrs R. S. Black, Democrat candidate, Dunedin North, will address the electors in the Pine Hill School to-night; Logan Park Bowling Green Pavilion Monday afternoon; Coronation Hall, Ravensbourne, Monday night; Coronation Hall. Maori Hill, Tuesday afternoon; North-east Valley Town Hall, Tuesday night; and George Street School Hall, Tuesday night.
